I arrived in San Andrés as a recent graduate with many dreams, certain that this island deserved world-class ophthalmology. Today, the clinic I founded receives patients from Colombia, Central America, and the Caribbean, and the hospital where I began carries my father's name. For over two decades, I have operated in 15 countries, published in the world's most demanding journals, and participated in defining consensus guidelines that now guide Latin American ophthalmological practice.
